Asia 3D Terrain

Asia 3D Terrain

MVRsimulation has built 6,411 geocells of 3D terrain of the continent of Asia and the Middle East in its round-earth geocentric VRSG format for rendering in Virtual Reality Scene Generator (VRSG). The 44,579,000 sq km virtual terrain was built with MVRsimulation’s Terrain Tools for Esri® ArcGIS® from 15 meters-per-pixel (mpp) color NaturalVue imagery, with 2.5 mpp SPOT satellite imagery of Afghanistan, 1 mpp black-and-white imagery of Iraq, Kuwait, and  portions of Jordan, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia color-fused with the 15 mpp base imagery, and 50 cm imagery of Hajin and Barisha, Syria.

MVRsimulation's Asia 3D terrain includes 0.60 mpp high-resolution natural color insets of many capital cities and other areas of interest in many of these countries (listed in specification below). Terrain elevation information was based on 3-arcsecond DTED level 1 and void-filled SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) elevation data, subsampled to achieve a nominal 60 m post spacing.

Several terrain regions include modeled areas of interest:

These MVRsimulation round-earth terrain tiles are suitable for real-time visualization in VRSG in applications such as simulation, and synthetic vision such as glass-cockpit displays, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) applications, close-air-support (CAS) exercises, and fixed-wing cockpit simulation.

The Asia 3D terrain is "Additional Materials" and is provided "as is" as described in our license agreement. Although MVRsimulation might modify or enhance the original source imagery, some visual artifacts from the source imagery might remain in the terrain tiles.

Geographic coverage by imagery resolution

The following symbolic representation shows the geographic coverage of this 3D dataset’s terrain tiles. This tile coverage map was generated with MVRsimulation’s Model Viewer. The green areas indicate use of 15 mpp imagery; the red areas indicate higher-resolution imagery.

MVRsimulation's Asia 3D terrain is delivered on an external hard drive. The terrain is provided in MVRsimulation's round-earth VRSG terrain format and will only run with a valid VRSG software license with valid software maintenance. A fee covers processing large quantities of data into VRSG terrain format and hard drive distribution media.

MVRsimulation’s Asia 3D terrain is available for purchase to customers who are US Government agencies or contractors (for official use only). Customers can duplicate the data at their discretion as long as the data is used in conjunction with a valid VRSG license.
