The AH-1Z Viper, also known as the Zulu Cobra, is the latest version of the battle-tested AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter line, which was first deployed in Vietnam in the 1960's. The original Cobra gunship was developed from the UH-1 to support the UH-1s as they transported troops into hostile landing zones. Its narrow frontal cross-section makes it difficult to hit as it attacks ground targets.
